Event capturing is a mechanism in JavaScript that allows you to intercept events as they travel down the DOM (Document Object Model) tree, from the outermost element to the innermost element.

This is in contrast to event bubbling, which is the more commonly known behavior where events travel from the innermost element to the outermost element.
