Once upon a time, there was a bush named Betty, Betty lived in front of a small family home. You might think Betty is only a bush, there is nothing interesting about her. You are right.

Betty is about as old as the house that sits behind her. All she does is listen to the loud air conditioning sounds from the side of the house. When the homeowner walks outside, she watches him. She watched him cut the grass; slip and fall on the icy cement during the winter; she watched him nearly drove his car into the garage one afternoon (he forgot to switch from reverse to drive). One day he arrived home so drunk, he threw up in the bushes. Luckily, it wasn’t on Betty but on some other bush, probably on Bob the bush.

The homeowner has a dog that likes to urinate in the bushes, particularly on Betty. The dog is potty trained so instead of the carpet inside the house being the toilet, Betty is the toilet.

As a bush, Betty has witnessed the oddities of the neighborhood she’s in. She’s seen children play, start fights and start fires. She once saw a girl sneaking out of the second-floor bedroom window in the middle of the night to be with the man of her…
