Meet Walter. Walter is a wooden chair. His previous owners bought him from a furniture store called “Chairland” and yes as you guessed it, they sold nothing but chairs. The one thing that separates Walter from other chairs is his love for the darkness.

Walter loves being in the dark. His owners leave him outside at night where it is dark. When it is bedtime, his owners turn off the lights inside the house before bringing him back in. Walter isn’t afraid of any light he most certainly enjoys any hint of daylight. He is just not a fan of artificial lighting.

Here are the 3 things you can learn from Walter about why you should love the dark and what you can do to better your enjoyment of the dark:

1 | The darkness is your friend

The darkness is not out to get you. The boogeyman isn’t out to yank you from your bed. What you see in horror films is all fiction. Just paint your walls black and buy light-blocking industrial blackout curtains. Make it so dark, you can’t see yourself. Learn to become one with the darkness as it envelopes you.
